How low can you go?
Clearly, not too low here since Communication Overtones is Rated G. It may be no fun, but it doesn't surprise me. Those who read this blog, and comment here, know I don't allow language that steps beyond a G rating.
I wondered if the overall Rating of blogs had anything to do with Ranking, with the thought that controversy and spicy language might boost rankings. So, I took the top 10 marketing blogs on ToddAnd's Power 150 and ran them through the algorithm.
Seth Godin | Rated G |
Copyblogger | Rated G |
Micropersuasion | Rated G |
Tompeters! | Rated PG |
Adrants | Rated PG-13 |
Pronet Advertising | Rated G |
SEOmoz | Rated G |
Online Marketing Blog | Rated G |
Duct Tape Marketing | Rated G |
Marketing Pilgrim | Rated G |
I turns out that Marketing and PR blogs are a pretty squeaky clean bunch if this turns out to be typical, though Adrants is a little on the spicy side.
So much for language and controversy.
Just click on the “G Graphic” above to get your own blog rating, then let us know about it here.
Update: It turns out there is a marketing and PR site that earns an R rating. Spin Thicket and Media Orchard, both sites maintained by my good friend Scott Baradell, score an R rating for some words that you will have to go into my comments to read – wouldn't want to mess up my rating 😉 (Hat tip: Ike Pigott)
