While pre-recorded videos are able to get your point across, livestreaming can help you reach a larger audience and repurpose your videos for future use, making it easier to engage and connect with even more people and grow your brand.
At the Houston’s Social Media Breakfast on February 8, Kami Huyse sat down with Ahn Nguyen from Amplified Marketing to discuss how using livestream video can help build your business. Nguyen hosts multiple livestreams, such as Women Who Mean Business and Mobile Chat Live, and has been working in social media and digital marketing for years.
The Benefits of Livestreaming
Livestreams can allow you to share your content with a broader audience and reach new people, and it’s unique in that it allows you to bring a lot of content to people in the form of a more engaging conversation. And even once the event finishes, the video will be recorded and you’ll be able to use it for other purposes in the future, such as downloading the livestreams and sharing it with your guests so they can spread it to even more people, or even boosting the video on your page. You’re also able to redirect the people who are n watching your livestream and create a lookalike audience that you can target.
Nguyen also explained how livestreaming helped her to become a better speaker, amplified her brand, and helped her connect with others. She also talked about how it helped her grow her community and share stories to help someone else.
How to Get Started
In order to start livestreaming, you don’t need a lot of fancy technology or expensive equipment. Nguyen recommends just having a laptop with a (working) webcam, earbuds with a microphone, some lights, or even a window in front of you. She emphasised that your video quality isn’t as important as your audio, and it’s more important for your audience to be able to hear you than really see you.

As long as you’re consistent about when you upload your videos, your audience will engage with and watch your videos. However, don’t forget about the 10-15 second delay you’ll experience with your audience, so don’t get discouraged if you ask questions on your livestream and nobody responds — they might still be typing!
Also, don’t give up if you only get a few views on your livestreams. People will watch your replays, and even if you start small, you’ll be able to build your business and grow over time.
