There is a great conversation that started on Friday and is still going today over at On Message with John Waggner about the explosive growth of the PR blogging world and how the growth will change our not-so-little community. If you haven’t been there yet, take a few minutes to go and add your 2-cents or just read all of the insightful comments.
It was just December 31, 2005 that Constantin Basturea, the keeper of the PR Blogs List, the Pub Sub PR list, the Blogdigger PR Blog headlines list that Jeremy Pepper uses for the Daily Dog Blog Run and the NewPRWiki, among others, reported that there were 330 PR bloggers.
If you haven’t figured it out by this point, you need to register your PR blog with Constantin as soon as possible. I will also make this post a request to Constantin to give us an update on the growth since Dec 31.
Finally, I was doing my usual blog surf around the net and landed Tom Foremski’s Silicon Valley Watcher page and realized how niche the PR blogging community already has become. I mean really, who has time to read 330+ blogs every day?
Foremsky recommended a top 10 list of marketing/public relations sites that we should all check out and I only knew two of the 10. To be fair, many were not even public relations sites in the strict sense of the word. But my point is that the niche-ing of the PR Blog world has already started, as has the changing of the definition of what PR will become.
I for one am enjoying the ride.
