What is your guess for the overall total number of feeds that will be in the PR Blogs List at the end of 2006? Let's have a friendly guessing contest.
In my post about the explosive growth of PR Blogs, I asked Constantin Basturea to update us on the number of “blogs” since the 330 number he gave as of December 31, 2005.
Here was his response in comments:
To respond to your question: as of today (Jan. 31, 2006), there were 374 feeds in the PR Blogs List (“feeds” and not “blogs”, because the list has also podcasts, PR firms publications, PR news via RSS, etc.).
–Constantin Basturea
That means there were 44 new feeds added this month alone, that is a growth of about 13 .5 percent, if my math serves me well! If the growth rate continues, we could see 528 new PR feeds added this year. That would total an eye-popping 858 new feeds.
Of course, human nature will probably show a boom of feeds at the beginning of the year and some peaks and valley's throughout. So, I will be the first to step out and guess that there will be a total of 650 feeds on December 31, 2006.
Put your guess in the comments section here and we will revisit this in December, maybe with some quarterly updates by Constantin, if he is willing. Whoever gets the closest without going over the actual number will win fabulous prizes (don't get too excited, it will probably be regifted from a holiday party), plus infamy for their ability to accurately forsee trends.
[Update: Constantin does a montly update on this post, so I will check it every month to see how we are doing]
